The Importance of End-User Security Awareness

A single email can lead to a multi-million dollar breach in seconds, and the employee responsible may not even be aware of their mistake. The problem lies in the fact that too few employees know of the dangers of social engineering, much less how to detect it.

Even with millions spent on security infrastructure, all it takes is one employee clicking on one wrong link to compromise critical data and information systems. End-user security awareness is a major issue in the business world today. The threat landscape is complicated, and the typical end-user is unaware of the ways in which they could adversely affect their organization.

“An investment in end-user awareness training reduces security related risks by 45-79%.” – Marektwired.com

With organizations being put under a microscope when it comes to their cybersecurity practices, the costs are too high to overlook the importance of effectively equipping end-users with the skills they need to combat the growing threat of cybercrime.

cyberSAFEMany businesses should consider registering their employees for CyberSAFE, a half day course that builds an understanding of basic social engineering tactics, as well as the ways in which they can be used to compromise a network.

About the CyberSAFE Half Day Course
The CyberSAFE class enables employees of any organization to identify many of the common risks associated with using conventional end-user technology, as well as how to safely protect themselves and their organizations from security risks. Delivered in a half-day or less, CyberSAFE also prepares learners to earn their Certified CyberSAFE credential. View the complete course outline and available training dates.

Who Should Attend?
The CyberSAFE training program is designed for non-technical end-users of computers, mobile devices, networks, and the Internet. From the CEO to the new sales representative, any individual that has access to an organization’s information systems needs a thorough understanding of their effect on cybersecurity.

The CyberSAFE Credential
To train is one thing, but to validate knowledge is equally as important. After class, all CyberSAFE students can complete the 20-question online assessment to receive the CyberSAFE credential. Aimed at validating the knowledge and skills developed during the class, the CyberSAFE credential ensures that end-users are equipped with the knowledge necessary to be good stewards of their organizations’ data.
